Canada Army Run 2018

DVA is running on September 23, 2018!  Click here to support the DVA Team

About Canada Army Run

From the cannon used as a “starter’s pistol” to the “dog-tag” medals soldiers place around all participants necks at the finish line, this unique event is “military” from start to finish. More than anything, though, Canada Army Run, is about Canadians and the Canadian Armed Forces – Air Force, Army, and Navy – joining together in the spirit of camaraderie and community. It’s a chance for the troops to extend the military esprit de corps to Canadians and to thank them for their support. And, it’s an opportunity for Canadians to say thanks to the men and women who serve them in so many ways at home and abroad.

National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First NationsInuit, and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.

Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.

In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice, for National Aboriginal Day, now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

DVA is honoured to be attending the Aboriginal veterans ceremony of remembrance.

Date: June 21, 2018
Time: 11 am
Location/Venue: National Aboriginal Veterans Monument, Confederation Park
City: Ottawa, Ontario

Join the DVA Team as we host VETS Canada at our clinic for their TOUR OF DUTY.

VETS Canada is excited to announce the date of our 3rd annual Coast to Coast Tour of Duty: 9 June 2018!

One of the things that set us at VETS Canada apart from other Veteran initiatives is that we don’t wait for those in need to come to us; our volunteers literally hit the streets boots on the ground in their communities in search of Veterans in crisis/living homeless. The VETS Canada Coast to Coast Tour of Duty is just that but on a much larger scale.

The VETS Canada Coast to Coast Tour of Duty is one of our annual, national events with a dual purpose: to encourage dialogue at the community and national level regarding Veteran homelessness, and to locate (and provide help for) Veterans in need from one tip of Canada to the other. The event takes the form of awareness Walks from coast to coast at 13h00 local time on 9 June 2018.

The public is encouraged to participate in their local 2018 Tour of Duty Walk; to help create important conversations, both locally and nationally, about homelessness / homelessness prevention amongst Veterans – and about VETS Canada’s ability to help. If you are interested in participating in this important initiative and attending a Walk near you, please contact us at:
