HOH- April 17, 1760- French and Indian War

On this day in 1760,  French General François de Lévis, with 5,000 soldiers and Indians, leaves Montreal in a bid to recapture Québec; he outnumbers the defending English by about 3,000 men; on April 28 he will defeat Gen James Murray at the Battle of Sainte-Foy, and forces him back into Québec; in mid-May the first English ships arrive, and Lévis retreats back to Montréal.
